Dec. 6 . 08 Marineland imports 8 new female Beluga whales from Russia. The whales arrived on Saturday morning after a 13 hour flight Aeroflot IL-76 jumbo jet. As I get news on their status I will post more.
August. 1. 08 Gemini had a female calf on August 1st, 2008. The calf was later named "Sasha."
July. 14. 08 Maple, one of Marineland's Beluga whales has been moved to Seaworld Florida. She was transferred on July 14th and arrived on the 15th. She makes the 4th beluga to go to SWF as part of a trade for the one male orca, Ikaika. She was transferred separately to Juno, Klondike, and Aurek because she was too young at the time of their move. We will miss you Maple!
July. 5. 08 Xena had a female calf on July 5th, 2008. The calf was later named "Eve."
Jan. 8. 08 Marineland suffers the loss of Nootka V on January 8th, 2008. Nootka was around thirty years old, who spent more than 27 years in captivity at Marineland. RIP.
